Privacy Policy

Last updated: 3 October 2026

This policy explains how Yaspeak handles information when you use our one-to-one English-learning workspace at yaspeak.com. For privacy questions or requests, contact the Yaspeak team at hello@marquesco.com.

Information we collect

How we use information

We use account information to sign you in, match your teacher's invitation, enforce access permissions, and display your identity within your learning workspace. We use learning information to deliver lessons, synchronize classroom activity, grade work, provide feedback, schedule practice, and show progress. Technical information helps us diagnose failures and prevent abuse.

Optional Google Calendar synchronization

Teachers and students may connect the Google account they use for Yaspeak from Settings. With your permission, Yaspeak creates a dedicated calendar and reads, creates, updates, and deletes lesson events there. Events contain the lesson title, teacher and student names, time, classroom link, and the student’s saved Google Meet link. Private notes, answers, and scores are not included. Moving or deleting a linked event updates the shared lesson schedule for both participants; it does not mark the lesson complete.

We store your calendar identifier, event mappings, synchronization status, and an encrypted authorization token so synchronization can continue while you are signed out. These records are accessible only to the server and are excluded from teacher backups. Disconnecting in Settings removes the stored token and stops synchronization, and Yaspeak attempts to revoke its Google authorization. Existing calendar events remain in your Google account, where you can remove them. You can also revoke access in your Google Account settings.

AI-assisted learning features

Yaspeak uses Google's Vertex AI and Gemini services for features such as lesson drafts, vocabulary explanations, reviews, warm-ups, and feedback on answers. These features send relevant teaching content, vocabulary, answers, or learning context to Google for processing. AI output can be inaccurate; teachers review generated teaching material before publishing it. Avoid including unrelated personal or sensitive information in uploads, notes, or prompts.

Yaspeak does not use Google sign-in profile data to train generalized AI models. If you enable calendar synchronization, the app accesses the Google Calendar API only for the dedicated Yaspeak calendar it creates. The use of Google account information is limited to providing and improving the application's user-facing functionality, consistent with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements where applicable.

Who can access information

Your authorized teacher can access the account and learning records needed to manage your lessons. Students receive access to their assigned courses, classroom content, and their own learning records. Yaspeak administrators may access information for support, maintenance, security, and handling your requests.

Google Firebase and Google Cloud provide authentication, hosting, databases, file storage, server processing, and AI services. Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise supports abuse prevention through Firebase App Check. These providers process information as part of delivering those services. See Google's Privacy Policy for information about Google's services.

Authorized teachers can export learning records and create encrypted backups. Downloaded copies are held outside the application, so requests concerning those copies may also require coordination with your teacher. We do not sell personal information or use Google account information for targeted advertising. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to investigate abuse and protect the service or its users.

Storage and protection

Information is stored in Firebase and Google Cloud services and may be processed outside your country. Yaspeak uses HTTPS, authenticated access, organization-scoped database and file permissions, and App Check to protect access. Teacher-created encrypted backups use password-based encryption. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.

The app uses browser storage for preferences, session state, local preview work, and cached application files. Clearing your browser data removes local copies and preferences but does not delete records held in our cloud services.

Retention and deletion

We retain account and learning records to provide ongoing lessons and learning history, administer the service, and address support or security needs. Pausing an account, signing out, or disconnecting Google access does not automatically erase these records. The app does not currently provide an automatic account-deletion button or a fixed automatic deletion schedule for all record types.

You can request deletion of your account and associated learning information by emailing hello@marquesco.com from your registered email address. We may need to confirm your identity and clarify the records involved. We will explain any information that must be retained for legal or security reasons. Backups, retained file versions, and teacher-held exports may require separate removal; we will explain any remaining copies and applicable limits when responding to your request.

Your choices and requests

Contact us to request access to, correction of, an export of, or deletion of your personal information, or to ask about how it is used. You can also manage Yaspeak's connection through your Google Account settings. Revoking access prevents future authorized access but does not itself delete Yaspeak's previously stored learning records. Depending on your location, additional privacy rights may apply.

Changes and contact

We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. For questions about this policy or the handling of a learner's information, email hello@marquesco.com.
